Jimmy is in Toronto today, meeting with his doctor. He was feeling a bit better the last time Richard talked to him. One of his doctors also had multipile myeloma, and suggested a bone-marrow transplant.
Taking a short break from Satanic panic research to read some fiction: Coraline, a kids' book by Neil Gaiman (Dad's recommendation), Angels and Demons (I guess this is sort of research, as it deals with the "real" Illuminati), and Harry Potter (also research, come to think of it...).
Watched The Village a couple nights ago. I thought it was beautifully filmed and mostly well-acted, with a lot going on between the lines, but because it's somewhat implausible that so many people could live in a completely isolated village Richard gave it a 2 out of 5. I give it a 3. It takes place in the fall, and I love fall: Crunchy leaves, delicate tree branches outlined against white sky, crispness in the air. Richard: "If they can't go into the woods, where does all their wood come from?" Okay, that's a good point. Signs had similar flaws. Why would aliens who are severely allergic to water invade a planet that's mostly water? But, hey, it's just a movie. I only expect historical and logical accuracy when true stories are involved. I like Hitchcock, too, but his movies are chock-full of little goofs in logic and even some gaping plot holes. I think M. Night Shyamalan is today's Hitchcock.
