Tuesday Morning Blathering

I haven't actually written much on this blog lately, and that's supposed to be the whole point. So I'll write a few things. Not that I have anything world-shaking to report. Terri Schiavo and her family are on my mind all the time, as my Dignity posts show, but aside from that I've been putting together the program for The Cripple of Inishmaan. One of the names sent to me was Jeannette VanDiel Peepers. I have to wonder if somebody's messin' with me. Ms. Peepers? I mean, no offense to all the "VanDiel Peepers" of the world, but that name sucks.

I finally had to split up the hamsters, as Tweak seemed to be hoarding all the food and booting Butters out their igloo in the middle of the night. So Butters now has her own pad and her own igloo, and they're both pretty happy. They can still pal around together outside their cages - but woe to anyone who lets them invade each others' private property, man! They had a regular ol' eye-gouging, teeth-baring, wall-climbing catfight the other day when Butters dared wander into Tweak's cage uninvited. They're cute, but they're vicious.
Their latest game is to very noisily dig around under their igloos to retrieve food and shavings, stuff it all into their cheeks, then go back into the igloos through the doors and put it back where it just came from. This is an endless cycle with them, beginning around 2:00 in the morning. Sigh.

Demi will be here next week. Her mom called today to let me know that she's bringing her violin with her so she can do her nightly 20 minutes of practice. "When she's not stressed out, it sounds very pretty!" Dana said. I can just picture this: Demi taking out her frustrations on the poor violin, making insane horror-movie music. So, sometimes she needs to count to ten and breathe deeply before starting to practice. That's just fine with me. When I was Demi's age some of my friends played violin after lunch, and I would forfeit recess just to sit with them in storage closets and listen to them practice. I really liked "Chopsticks", and I was totally fascinated by their blocks of bow-resin because they looked sorta like cubes of amber (My friend Rachel has never really forgiven me for dropping hers...).

Despite the Bill Hicks chocolate/bunny quote, I do have Easter & spring decos all over the apartment (including my favorite, a "Spongebob Bunnypants" wall hanging), and I bought a chocolate-scented stuffed bunny for Demi. The hamsters try to chomp on it, but the fuzz tickles their nose and gets them pissed them off. ;D

Really must get some sleep.
