'80s Flashback

Watched Legend for the first time. It reminded me a lot of Akira Kirasawah's Dreams - total eye candy, beautiful music, very enchanting. Richard also bought Phantom of the Opera. It's basically the same movie as Legend, now that I think of it. Even the lead actresses look alike. They're both beauty-and-the-beast stories, only evil is not so absolute in Phantom and that's what I like about it. Some fantasy movies are a little too black-and-white and superficial for me, Lord of the Rings being a prime example. The ugliness is on the outside of all the villains (giant ogres dripping in snot, and whatnot), while beauty and cuteness represent purity. If life was only that easy...
Ridley Scott apparently wanted to remake Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast with Legend. It does have a dreamy Cocteau quality that I haven't seen in many recent fantasy films.

Dang it. Busted.
I really don't remember Legend. I even remember Krull, but I don't remember Legend.

It's part of our running Tim Curry gag. I think you even alluded to this when you watched IT and he was the clown.

I still don't remember ever seeing Legend before or knowing Tim Curry was in it, but Richard looked him up for some reason and it turns out he's played Satan like four or five times. Hmmm.
