Scratch that - no new digs

The final word isn't in yet, but it looks as though are pre-approved mortgage will be retroactively not approved. In their original assessment, our bank didn't bother to ask if Richard pays child support. Suddenly, they did. AND CHILD SUPPORT - GET THIS - COUNTS AS DEBT. B.S. I count it as a household expense. You're caring for your children, custodial parent or not.

So, since we'll only be allowed a pittance of a pre-approved mortgage if the child support is taken into account, we're just going to stay here in our apartment. The sunny side is, we really do like our neighborhood and our apartment. We feel quite at home here. (it's trendy, fun, quiet, and lined with gorgeous black elms) And without purchasing the condo we can finally replace Richard's divorced-bachelor, circa-1973 living room furniture set with a groovy futon for Richard & the kids, and a big comfy chair for myself.

I know this is going to especially hard on Richard. He may slip into a angry/manic phase, or a morose/depressive phase, and there's not much anyone can do about that. It hurts me to see him that way. My goal for now is concentrate on the positives - and there a lot of them - to keep myself out of another depression. I dealt with one just a few weeks ago and, man, I do NOT wanna go back there right now.
