The Chocolate Movie

I decided to wait until Demi's here to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. (She'll probably know the title now; when she was younger she just called Willy Wonka "the chocolate movie.") Children are wonderful excuses to see kids' movies, even if they don't necessarily want to see them with you. I've had to get a little tyrannical about it. "Look, we're renting Finding Nemo and that's that. Just shoosh."
I've noticed (and I could be wrong here) that more women than men dig Willy Wonka. Is it the chocolate? Is it Veruca? Are we unconsciously into guys who wear purple?

Betcha Aaron and your brother wouldn't be caught dead even RENTING this movie. They just DON'T GET Raold Dahl!

Could be the Johnny Depp factor. He doesn't do much for me personally, so I'd just go for the chocolate myself.

Yeah, it's definitely the chocolate for me. Johnny Depp looks like a cadaver.

Aaron won't watch anything that's older than me, so Willy Wonka'a definitely out. I can't figger out why they don't like Roald Dahl, though...

W.C. I don't think its the Depp (or Wilder) connection. It's the fact that it sounds like it's strictly a little kids movie. When, infact, it's really more a movie for adults. Especially the Depp/Burton version.

I thought Depp was brilliant (as he always is) in this movie. Very dark and extremely funny at the same time. And Burton's visuals were unbelievable good.

I know a lot of guys who took either there kids or grandkids to see this movie, and they all loved it. Give it ***1/2 outta ****
