Tonight was the world premiere of Lucid Dream! Richard didn't end up on the cutting room floor; he's clearly visible sitting close to a giant bug of some kind. The director is really into special effects, and this short film was basically just a test run for some of the techniques he learned in film school recently. He likes to build robots and big, comical/hideous insects - this time he used painted styrofoam, but he says his next film will look like Star Wars. During the Q&A period his brother shouted out, "How long are you gonna take up the garage with your next film?"
Anyway, LD was a cute, surreal little comedy with a Broadway-style homage to Chicago ("Mr. Wax Paper"). And lots of styrofoam bugs.
Raiders of the Lost Ark was also fun to watch. I'm not sure why Nazis would be interested in Hebrew/Christian relics, but apparently they actually were, to some extent. They had excavations going on in various locations.

I want an autograph!
Did you cover your eyes when the bad guys melted?
No, but I noticed Indiana and what's-her-name did.
