Can someone please help me? There are mysteries involving two "ladies" that must be solved before my brain implodes. Seriously.
1. Lars von Trier's latest movie, Manderlay, is part two of a trilogy, Dogville being part one. The title is intriguing to me because it is, of course, the name of the mansion in Daphne du Maurier's novel Rebecca, but also because I swear I once heard a Kurt Weill tune called "The Lady of Manderlay." And von Trier has said that Brecht and Weill's "Pirate Jenny" from The Threepenny Opera inspired Manderlay. Problem is, I can't find any evidence of "The Lady of Manderlay" anywhere!! I know I didn't imagine it! Really!! I thought it could be an alternate title for "Pirate Jenny", but I haven't found any evidence of that, either.
2. Is it just me, or is Flightplan just The Lady Vanishes with a young girl instead of an old woman? Is this an homage or just outright stealing? I can't find any evidence that the producers/director of Flightplan gave any credit to Hitchcock.

I know nothing.
Other than the Rebecca reference, which I know (of course); I've never heard of this.
They are probably "borrowing" from The Lady Vanishes, but it's always scarier when it involves a child.
How's this?
I've seen The Lady Vanishes but Flightplan just doesn't look like it will be that exciting. So couldn't tell you.
SME: I have tagged you on my blog. Blame your mom's friend, Bridget! :)
I won't take it personally if you don't bite.
