friday night

Richard's family is having a tough time this Christmas season - the first without Richard's younger brother, Jim. It's times like this when living so far from family isn't so great. But Richard works nights now, and told his mom to call him whenever she can't sleep and needs to talk. I guess there are advantages to the night shift!

Capote is playing here, bloody finally. Now I just have to finish up In Cold Blood by Monday (cheap night). I read it once years ago but don't remember much. For some reason a cherry pie sticks in my mind. I don't wanna watch the original movie at all, 'cause Robert Blake isn't just playing a convicted killer anymore and that's just a li'l too creepy, y'know?

Other than that, nothing much happening. I took advantage of the Bay's sticker sale to get a lighter coat, as the bulky super-warm one I have is far too warm for our pathetic early winters. It doesn't get nasty until around Valentine's Day.

We'll be picking up Demi next week and bringing her back here for Christmas. :) Aaron has to work Christmas Eve, though. :(

Richard gave me one present early: Vera Wang perfume. Very nice!

How are Jimmy's kids doing? My heart aches for Doug's parents! It's every parents WORST nightmare to outlive their kids!
Capote's writing was ok, but I could never stand to watch him. His voice was like nails on a chalkboard!

The kids are holding up pretty well, but I'm sure Christmas is hard for them too. Richard's folks decided not to put up their tree this year because it was just upsetting his mom too much. But she and Kathy are going to a bereavement group lately, and that seems to be some comfort to them.

I WARNED Richard about Capote's voice but he still wants to see it with me for some reason. He'll have only himself to blame. ;P
