I swore I wouldn't watch Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire 'til after I read the book, but I did and I loved it. Wowza. Now I'm bummed I didn't go to the Imax to see it, 'cause those underwater scenes would have roooocked...
Anyway, call me stupid, but I didn't realize that Gary Oldman plays Sirius Black. I just couldn't tell. The dude's a chameleon! I recognized Brendon Gleeson right away, though; it's hard to miss "The General".
I'm told the book is much more detailed. There's more to Rita Skeeter, right? Why was she even in the movie? Miranda Richardson deserves so much more than some goofy little throwaway role!!

I love the books and the movies! It was one thing the ex and I loved to see together, although he'd never read them. And I guess the depth of talent is so huge in the UK that Miranda Richardson can breze in and out. She is a bigger force in the book. Same with Zoe (I can't remember her last name), who is the Quidditch coach- HUGE actor, small part. Something to the old adage, I guess: no small parts, only small actors. I think it should say,"provided it's a small part in a blockbuster, internationally successful movie franchise." :)
I TOLD you that Oldman was Sirius! The Rita Skeeter part really pissed me off! There was NO POINT in putting her in the movie, if they didn't even tell what Hermoine did to her in the end.
I realize that they can't put everything in the movie. However, they skipped vital themes that carry over into HP5. They just went for the action and skipped character development in this movie. :(
Ahh, HP movies. Not crazy about them to be quite honest. However, I really enjoyed the Goblet of Fire. I guess it depends on what your expectations are going into it.
Nothing could be worse than the Prisoner of Azkaban movie. There was no way you could have understood what was going on if you hadn't read the book. I was so pissed I could hardly breathe!
RJ, I guess you're right - ANY part in an HP movie is a good part.
Mom, I totally don't remember you telling me about Sirius, but what's new, right? Heehee.
I'll finish the books one of these days, really I will.
Gary Oldman is amazing. He's been in so many things where you think "who is that?"... My favorite of his roles are still the Professional and True Romance.
Euro, that's really true of ALL the HP movies. If you haven't read the books, you don't really get it.
Hint, Hint, SME. Won't Aaron want his books back sometime?
Yeah, books 4 & 5 are Aaron's. I told him I'll ship 'em to him anytime, but he's waiting for me to read them. :)
I've enjoyed each movie more than the last (#1 didn't impress me at all). There are parts that don't make much sense, but it doesn't take away from the stories.
Rita Skeeter has a somewhat important role. You'd love what happens in HP5. Read that book, you'll love it.
Oh, just read your Mom's comment. Dang, I forgot it was the end of 4 what Hermoine does to her. Hermoine rocks!
