Lazy Sunday

A quiet Sunday here - aren't all Sundays quiet? - and since it's not sunny, Richard is glued to Turner Movie Classics. He watched On the Waterfront earlier and won't stop saying "I coulda been somebody! I coulda been a contender!" (No more Brando for him.)

I'm hooked on Osiisama E (Dear Brother), an anime series about a girls' boarding school. Very lesbian, but the characters are well-drawn (literally and figuratively) and the animation is lovely. To think I used to hate Japanese animation! This series hasn't officially been subtitled, but a group of Japanese-American girls took the trouble to translate it and post it on Youtube.com, bless their hearts.

Oh, On The Waterfront is brilliant- even I wander my halls reciting that speech. I love classic movies for the archetypes. Perfect Sunday viewing.

It was fun. Later we watched Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - the ultimate political naif. Fighting the system single-handedly and winning because people finally give him the benefit of the doubt. As if.

Lazy Sundays are the best. Especially the ones where you don't even get out of your pajamas.
