Commercial Break

I posted about obnoxious TV the other day, but I forgot to mention the most annoying part: commercials. The "Hey, I found six Canadian!" commercial grated on men's nerves so much during the NHL playoffs that a newspaper columnist recently devoted every word to it, but the one that drives me batty is the Drumstick commercial on which a Partridge Familyish band sings "Let's kick out the day! Yeah ee yeah ee yeah!"

"Let's kick out the day."

Who says that?

Seriously, who?

S.M.E. is....

I haven't seen that one yet- I'll look for it. Kick out the day? Is it a retro saying maybe? It never ceases to amaze me what copywriters come up with- and from working in the industry, I know that there are way too many people involved so that by the time it actually gets to being produced it's been approved a gazillion times so lots of people thought it was a good idea. So strange, isn't it?

It just FRIGHTENS me that more than 3 people, tops, thought that was a good idea. Yeek.
