Just returned from taking the kiddies home. Always sad to see them go, and eerily quiet around here...
Seriously, we couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Somehow the weather was beautiful - sunny, but not scorching-hot like it was a few weeks ago - and six people managed to survive in reasonable comfort in a space meant for two, for nearly a week. Aaron learned some kind of Chinese chess from Paul; I learned where to get fake shrimp. We showed Juliet the Rockies and managed to stumble across a mule deer and a colony of pikas. Demi had three brothers to pick on. Richard got to see all four of his kids together in one spot for the first time in 10 years. All in all, an excellent end to the summer.
I feel a little tired, but in the best way.
Back to our normal routine. I haven't watched TV or read the news much during the past three weeks, but it seems nothing much has changed. Iran. Pluto. Anderson Cooper still carping on U.S. polygamy as if it hasn't been going on for the past 200 bloody years (what is it with that guy?! I swear, if I hafta see one more interview with some irate Holly Hobby lookalike...!!). Etc.
Anyway, must get some sleep.
