"Tony Johnson" update
There has been a very interesting development in the story of Anthony Godby Johnson, the boy who inspired Armistaud Maupin's novel The Night Listener and the movie of the same name: The person in the photographs sent to Maupin and other friends of Tony has finally been identified. My post "The Invisible Boy Behind The Night Listener" is at Swallowing the Camel (there's now a handy menu on the sidebar, so you don't have to fish for it).

I can't believe it took this long for someone to recognize him. Poor guy didn't get much for his 15 minutes of fame, did he?
I was surprised too. I kind of suspected the kid in the pictures was someone who had died, thinking she wasn't dumb enough to use a living kid's pictures. Wrong-o! I wonder if he can sue.
Neve heard of him.
Few people have. I follow a lot of literary frauds, that's the only reason I know about it. I started following the story about 4 years ago, and as more is revealed it just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
Oh ok. So what is your favorite read for fun now a days then? I like a good fantasy book when its presented to me or a good romance novel. Well anyway I have to go see about dinner. J should be home soon and I have no idea whats for dinner yet. Talk later N.
I like a lot of nonfiction, but Dad got me "Wicked", about the Wicked Witch of the West, for my birthday and that's very good. This year I'd like to read Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, Stephen King's Dark Tower series, and some Thomas Pynchon. I read a few mystery novels over the summer, but without Dad's guidance I picked out a few real duds, heehee.
I'd feel bad eating solid food around Richard when he he's still eating only soft stuff, so I had to wait til he went to work to have a soy burger and some veggies. ;D
Those sound like interesting books. I read a while back one of steven kings books and now to think of it I cant remember the name of it. Next time I go to the library I will look again. I know what it looks like. LOL..Poor Richard. I feel for him. Did he have his wisdom teeth pulled then or what? Well I suppose. My mom should be on in about five minutes and we chat for about half hour everyday. Whoopee right? LOL... Its not that bad esp after my post about her. Lots of insight from you guys. well catch you later N.
my daughter highly recommended the night listener - I went to the video store and it is not out yet - this town has always been at least 10 years behind the rest of the world, unfortunately not in a good way.
SME - the Dark Tower series was excellent - you will stay lost in it for daze.
Gardenia, The Night Listener was quite good (the novel and the movie, but especially the movie). It'll turn up eventually. I'm frustrated now too because "The Last King of Scotland" hasn't reached us yet. ;)
Tweetey, Richard was going to get his remaining 3 wisdoms out, but it was such a difficult extraction that he settled for just the one that's been bothering him. He's much better today, but I think we'll be having just soup for dinner for another day or two. I think I'll sneak out and get some Chinese now, before he wakes up! ;D
