There's a big ol' winter storm coming in tonight. Snow, high winds, -30 temp, the whole shebang. I wouldn't let Richard go to work for someone else tonight, which is a big switch: Usually I'm saying "You're not sick! Get!" But I know Western Canadian drivers too well. They can't drive worth a plugged nickel even on cloudless summer days.
I just watched Little Mosque on the Prairie. It's not bad at all. A group of Muslims somewhere in Saskatchewan grow tired of meeting in basements and rent out part of a local church to use as their mosque...but they don't want anyone to know it's a mosque, so they disguise it as a construction business. The problem is, they have a voicemail message that says "We'll blow the competition away!"
I don't understand what the big deal with this show is. Why the hell shouldn't Muslims be on TV? Shouldn't we be grateful that there are some funny Muslims out there?

I missed the premier of Little Mosque! I've heard nothing but good things about it, so hopefully I'll be able to download the episode soon. I saw the commercial for it where the Muslims are curling and thought it was a hoot. I'm glad the CBC is doing this. There should be something like this on TV up here.
Couldn't agree more. I congratulate the CBC on doing this and ignoring the criticism, which may be loud -but comes from only a handful of paranoid bigots.
Never heard of it but it sounds like a load of fun to watch. J and I have our favorites though. Mondays and Wednesdays we watch Deal or No Deal and then Fridays we watch 1 vs 100 and then starting next tuesday the 16th we watch American Idol. Its funny to see all these people squeak and squawk. Some can actually sing but the ones that cant its funny to watch them try. I dont blame you for keeping Richard home with you. If I could keep J home when the roads are terrible I would too. Well anyway I shall be going. Thought I would say hi and see how things are going. N.
The storm didn't hit as hard as it was supposed to; The roads are somewhat OK and the wind isn't bad. In fact I'm just heading to the library.
I love watching Idol auditions! I feel a little bad for some of the people who really think they're talented...but it's still funny!
I've never heard of 1 vs. 100, though.
What big deal? Any suggestion that redneck Westerners ("paranoid bigots") have a thing against a TV comedy featuring Muslims is either a not-so-clever effort at self-promotion (i.e. like the Donald Trump/Rosie O'Donnell feud), or an attempt by our Illuminati masters to divide and conquer.
Funny TV shows are fine. Fatwas over caricatures aren't.
Illuminati masters? Man, I hate it when people use the term Illuminati to refer to the elite. It's a bastardization. The Bavarian Illuminati was actually a very cool organization, and if I'd been around during its brief existence I would've totally supported it.
Sounds like a fun movie. That storm was supposed to hit here last night, but I just peeked out and nothing. Thank God - at least the parking lot is ice free, maybe I can go mail some stuff, and clean my car up for packing.
Come on over to my cyber birthday party today!
We arent suppose to get any snow till Wednesday now from what J told me this morning before work. K has three girls I know of coming Saturday. Well thats better than none. She also got a new bike and a barbie for her b-day from us. We let her have the bike. But I put the barbies up until Saturday for her. Boy is she just growing up to fast for me. Well anyway I shall be going. B's hungry and I need to go find somethign for us to eat. Later old pal. N.
Uh-oh, I can't reach your blog, Gardenia. You'll have to send me an email. But Happy Birthday To You and Many More!
Tweety, 3 girls sounds managable! I hope K has an excellent party. I bet she'll love the bike, and the Barbie. I miss Barbies. Those Bratz dolls that Demi played with were creepy...instead of their shoes coming off, their whole foot pops off! ;(
Do you want my password, so you can visit Gardenia? Her birthday party was a hoot!
