Welcome to the New Year!

We had a lovely New Year's Eve and Day with Demi and her pooch, Bandit. She's actually quite well-behaved and housebroken. (The dog, not Demi, heh heh)

Here they are watching the fireworks. We thought Bandit might freak and bolt, but when the first one exploded she hopped up on the ledge and stared at them, awed and possibly eager to chase after them.

Butters wouldn't budge a whisker for the first 24 hours of having a dog in the apartment. She's slowly getting back into her normal routine of running laps and washing compulsively (can hamsters have OCD, BTW?), keeping one eye on Bandit at all times. Bandit is petrified of her, too.

After the fireworks we watched Lady in the Water and snacked on apple slices with fruit dips, hummus and veggies, and Sun Chips. No, it could never compete with pickled herring, but I'll get by... ;D

Demi and Aaron gave me the Complete Sims for Christmas/birthday. Demi knows all the cheats, so her Sims live in abject luxury while mine skulk around, broke and depressed with garbage piling up in their living rooms. (Z. tells me that the Sims pets will eat garbage, though. Good to know.)

This evening Dem and I watched Supersize Me on CBC (ironically, while munching on Tater Gems). It's not half as gorge-inducing as the book Fast Food Nation, yet... even if I ate meat, I wouldn't be touching Big Macs anytime soon. Not only because they're fatty and nasty, but because I don't want to be like The Big Mac Enthusiast. In addition to his fetching muttonchops, he and his wife have the same creepy bowl haircut. It's proof positive, people: Consumed on a daily basis, fast food eats yer brain.

First strange link of 2007: If you're bored (and/or recuperating) after all your holiday festivities, watch some cheese mature on Cheddarvision! It lets you "examine the delicate intricacies of the mold on the beautiful cheese as it develops." I'm so glad I found this - I've clearly been wasting my life. Thank God somebody is making the most of technology.

Hi there. I thought Bandit was smaller than he is. I am taking decorations and tree down today as I go. Next year we are going to entwine the lights in the garland. No hurry to do that. Now that we own our home. Living in an apt makes you feel like you have to take things down right away or not to decorate properly. But anyway have a good year and happy b-day on thursday.

At least Demi is housebroken. ;)

It was great talking to her last night. Too bad she wasn't there longer.

I know it. We miss her already. But she's looking forward to coming with us this summer!

Hey, I watched Super Size Me on CBC, too. Very disturbing movie, really. I've also read FFN which really opened my eyes to a lot of things. What did you think of The Lady in the Water?

That is good. Have fun and enjoy tomorrow. Its your day. Its weird how this works. Your b-day, K's b-day is Jan 13th and then mine. J kept saying we should have her on my b-day and I kept telling him I had better things to do than be in the hospital on my b-day. LoL... WEll anyway Happy b-day again.

Tweets, that's cool, I didn't know K's birthday was so close to yours! Are you gonna let her have slumber parties when she's older? Heehee.

Tomorrow I think I'm getting a haircut, and we're going to the Tandoori place down the street for dinner. Yum.

WC, I don't care what anyone says about M. Night, I liked Lady in the Water and The Village. He has a unique vision. (I admit Signs was rather stupid, though!)

P.S. I think Supersize Me put Demi off Mcnuggets for a while. ;D

I LOVED The Village. I thought it was a great movie. My brothers are pretty down on it, but I think it was thematically excellent. I haven't seen TLITW yet, but Signs was absolutely ridiculous. I couldn't get over the lame ending!

Finally! Someone besides me and Demi who appreciated The Village! Let me know what you think of LITW if you do see it...

The village was about those religious people that couldnt get out of the forest right?? If it is we had rented it a while ago now. It was ok. Signs is the one with Mel Gibson if I remember correctly. And I have no idea what the other one you are talking abot here is. I want the first three original Star Wars. The 4,5, and six. Even before the new first three came out. I think they did wonders with that one making the last three before they made the first three. Well I suppose I have a hungry little girl and I am getting there myself. Hope all is well today and we will hopefully see you this summer. N.

I don't care what any of you say; The Village was stuuuupid!

S.M. Elliott said...

No way. "Signs" was stuuupid. Why would aliens allergic to water attack a planet FULL OF WATER? Doy.

You know, I still haven't seen parts I and II of Star Wars yet. I went to the first one and thought it was OK, aside from that annoying Jamaican-sounding rabbity guy, but I just didn't follow through. Guess I should do that one of these days!

I didn't say that Signs wasn't stuuupid. IMO, M. Night has only done ONE decent movie. I haven't seen LITW yet, so MAYBE he has 2.

If you didn't see Star Wars I, how did you see JarJar?

S.M. Elliott said...

I did see the first one! Just not the second or third. So I don't know how Darth or Annikan or whatever his name is crossed over to the dark side yet.

I really think you should see them. They are really entertaining really. Well I mean some people just dont like stuff like that but these are good. N>
