I've seen this before and it turns my heart to mush. I have to admit, I was horrified the first time because I was sure that when the one floated away, that it was dead and the other mourning... but then I was happy again....
There's a theory that there was a time in human evolution that we went back to the sea for awhile. I'm wondering if otters were our pets, because sometimes they act like it.
If you go to a secluded area with otters, they're very playful with humans. Like raccoons, they'll actually watch you for awhile and in a way, they'll play.

Total soul mates there. Cute.
Oh my God, that is quite possibly the cutest thing I have EVER seen! And otters are one of my favourite animals to boot. Thanks!!!
I love otters, too. I have a little soapstone one on the desk beside me.

My daughter stood next to me when I watched this saying, "Awwww, it's so cute. Awwww, it's so cute. Awwww, it's so cute," about a dozen times.
Awwww. That's so cute. ;)
I didn't even consider that the sleeping otter could be dead. Of course I'm glad it wasn't. That wouldn't be cute.
That is just too cute!!!
