Summary: A palate-conscious rat named Remy longs to be a great chef. A bumbling cook named Linguini just wants to hold down a job. Combine them and you get...a big ol' mess.
Upsides: I bought this one sight unseen, 'cause with Pixar, rats, and cooking I couldn't possibly go wrong. It's a strange combo, but it works. It's like Hell's Kitchen mixed with The Secret of NIMH and the French-chef scene from The Little Mermaid. Utterly adorable (if you like rats), beautifully animated, and a marvelous pick-me-up on a cold winter's day. I think this movie will be providing me with screenshot desktops all winter long.
Downside: My only complaint is with the marketing related to this movie. Fer the love of God, no matter how cute he is, you should never put a picture of a rat on a pineapple.
Unrelated Aside: Rats rule. I don't care what anybody says - they're fascinating critters, and more clever than many humans. (And that whole Bubonic plague thing has been blown waaay out of proportion.)
