Unfortunately, my nearest book was a bio of Milton Friedman. Yawn-o-rama.

"It was natural that Hoover, who presided over the worst economic debacle in national history, would be thrown out of office in 1932, when Friedman as [sic] in his first year at Chicago. About one individual seeking work in four was unemployed, deflation was in the double digits, banks were failing by the hundreds and even thousands, and national output had declined by almost one-third since Hoover had taken office in 1929. Roosevelt won an electoral college landslide, 472 votes to 59, and swept large Democratic majorities into both houses of Congress."

I'll tag folks who might be reading something more interesting...

Like I said on Tweety's blog, my nearest book is my dictionary. I'm probably just going to gracefully bow out of this particular tag.

The dominant groups need not notice their own group being at all; they occupy an unmarked, neutral, apparently universal position. (Justice & the Politics of Difference by Iris Young)

I thought that was pretty interesting! I might do it even uninvited!

The closest book to me is on SSL and TLS programming - so enjoy:

As it's name suggests, this function seeds the OpenSSL PRNG. Its implementation is left out; see Chapter 4 for details on an appropriate implementation. It is very important to maintaining the security of SSL for the PRNG to be properly seeded, so this function should never be left out in real-world applications.

It is a fun idea. Laura's quote is actually interesting, but John wins for driest reading material, hands-down. I thought Friedman was tedious!

WC, you get a pass for that.

It was a veeery interesting Lost tonight, IMO.

Gardenia, give it a go! Can't be any worse than the dictionary.

Milton F? Is reading that book a punishment??

It might as well be! I'm just reading it for background to "The Shock Doctrine".
