Kawaii!!

Taiwan is absolutely chock-full of cuteness. Cute logos, cute signs, cute everything. I was in Paradise! I had a fantastic time checking out all the little goodie stores and stalls at the night markets, each of them packed with figurines, pillows, toys, and other bric-a-brac. Snoopy and the Peanuts are very big right now. Also Spongebob, the Smurfs, Doraemon, Totoro, a banana with glasses, and a space dog from China. Paul even spotted some merchandise from the old French cartoon Barbapapa, which I had completely forgotten about. Too much fun. I couldn't resist the "pencil Ninja" pillow or the bracelet of turtles. I also had to buy curio shelves to house the figurines I bought: A rabbit, a lucky rat, and two little people with very strange pets from the Palace Museum (second photo). I also got a bunny that waggles its ears when you pull its tail (see a video of it), for my purse. 30 going on 13, eh?

OMG I LOVE that pillow! And Totoro totally rocks. My Neighbour Totoro is one of my niece and nephews favourite DVD (although I was sure the name was My FRIEND Totoro...? Oh well).

I still say they turned you into a true canadian.. LOL... Anyway those are very cute items you bought. I think I would have to do the same things.

Actually these will probably be worth a lot of money some day.

I have to admit, I didn't know what Totoro was. At first I thought it was a rabbit, then an owl. Then I noticed it had whiskers and figured it was some funky cat-owl. One saleslady told me it was a turtle. Finally I found one piece of merchandise with a name on it, and recognized the movie. Turns out Totoro is a forest spirit, part cat and part owl and part Japenese critter with which I am not familiar! Now I just have to see the movie.

I like the pillow.

First off: NINJA PILLOW. I need not say more.

Also, I see no Totoro. :P (I like Catbus better, anyway.)

I see blogger spaced you out too. What's up with that?

That purse bunny looks heavy. Was it you or Z that had that tiny, plush, string powered bunny?

Totoro's clipped to my computer case. Taipei had an entire Totoro store, but I didn't go in - surely they had Catbus stuff.

Try as I might, I can't remember a string-powered bunny! Must be gettin' old.

Those blank spaces are driving me nuts...

You throw me back million years ago (okay just 30) how do you know Barapapa, I did not remember them but somehow when I read the name on your post, all their faces (If you can call their weird shapes, faces) and colours sprung back to mind, it's funny the things we store in our brains. I like the Doraemon
