Mystery Cat

This afternoon a cat started mewing at our door, and she doesn't seem to belong to anyone on our floor - meaning either than someone left her here, or she knows how to use elevators. We let her in, posted a notice in the lobby, and phoned the manager. But I haven't heard anything yet. For the meantime, I gave her some food borrowed from our neighbor and rigged up a shoebox filled with wood shavings for a second litterbox. She seems content with that. She's also making herself at home in our scruffy old computer chair, as you can see.

Sophie is not thrilled with this arrangement. The cat is giving her a wide berth, because Sophie hopped toward her and growled as soon as she got close enough to sniff at her. A gracious hostess she is not.

Update: Priscilla has been reclaimed by her owner. I suspect her husband was trying to get rid of the cat while she was at work.

Sophie is relieved.

She looks a lot like the cat we had when you were little.

Hm...I hope the owner comes to light. But...this seems to be a pattern with you, no? Looks like a nice cat, and it looks comfy at your place...

I agree with WC - the fluffy feline seems to have made herself at home. I see your family growing very soon...

Aww sweet of you to take the poor little girl in until some one claims her. But what are you going to do if no one claims her??

All I know is, if we don't give up condo living at some point I am going to end up with a freakin' petting zoo...

She is a very sweet, affectionate cat. I can't understand why someone would abandon her.

If someone did just abandon her, that's just effing disgusting. BUT, I do believe that if you keep her around, she'll have found a great home!

That's awful! I hate hearing stories about people using pets against one another like that. I'm glad the kitty is back home, but I am concerned for her safety and well being.

Oh, I'm glad her owners showed up, but I agree with Laura...I'm a little worried about this poor kitteh's safety...

I'm concerned too, but there's not much I can do. I just hope the owner catches on to what her husband might have been trying to do. I mean it's possible the cat made it down three floors in the elevator by herself, but not all that likely. Also, someone took down the original "found" sign I posted in the lobby before Priscilla was claimed...

Someone's definitely f*cking with that cat. You could call the SPCA.

That's not a bad idea...
