The mysterious and rather creepy title caught my attention, but it was the subtitle that sold me on this book: "Problems in the History of Witchcraft and Diabolism". The author, Elliot Rose, was (is?) a history professor at the University of Toronto, and this book is (according to one of the blurbs on the back) "an analysis of witchcraft in the western European culture complex from the ninth to the eighteenth centuries" which "ends up shattering most of the positions held by the various schools of witchcraft theory". Other than that, I have no idea what I'm in for.

What kind of problems could witches have, one wonders? Intriguing.

Witchcraft and all religious followings which I will refer to as the Faith Industry have little substance or truth. The main hold over people is that dastardly thing called 'Fear of the unknown'. The only thing good about witchcraft and religion is that it provides the essence for those white knuckle movies as in, grown ups fairy stories.
