Ten Things about SME

Tagged by Karen over at Voyages of the HMS Swiftsure.

1. I'm fascinated by cults; how they operate, why people join them, what leads to their undoing. I know a lot about Christian cults, New Age cults, occult cults, and Amway.

2. I have Restless Legs Syndrome. So far I've managed it with calcium and magnesium, and I have no intention of ever taking prescriptions drugs for it...like the one that can increase "gambling and sexual urges." Great. So I won't feel twitchy when I'm trying to sleep, but I'll be a gambling addict and/or a nympho?

3. I have a stuffed buffalo named Wilbur.

4. When I was a kid I had an imaginary friend named Joey Pop, and I once embarrassed my mother half to death by accusing a large woman in a restaurant of sitting on her.

5. Before bed I like to watch either Gumby or The X-Files. They're so freakin' weird and dream-like that they ease the transition into sleep beautifully. But this means I've never actually seen the end of an X-Files, except for "Jose Chung's From Outer Space", which is brilliant and hilarious.

6. I don't like Winston Churchill. That's practically sacrilege around here, where you can't spit without hitting something named after him.

7. I have a difficulty saying the words "regularly" and "particularly", but not "peculiarly".

8. My favorite Dali painting is Gala and the Angelus of Millet Immediately Preceding the Arrival of the Conic Anamorphosis - and, yes, I know the title by heart. I also got to see it once.

9. I adore Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock.

10. I don't like maple syrup. Seriously, I don't.

I'm supposed to tag ten others, so...

Notta Wallflower (Two Left Feet)

Zombie Slayer

My Dad (scrunch, just this side of the edge)

Tweetey

Bridget Jones (Garden Behind the Hedge)

Alan (Al-Truism)

My sweetie Richard (Hawkeyi House of the Reliable Arts) - I'm thinking "fat chance, he always ignores my tags..."

La Cremiere (Living it Up)

And that's it, I think. I know a lot of people have already done this one. But even if you have, you're not off the hook! Heh heh heh.

Hi SME. Been a while; still enjoying the poor excuse of a summer here; will work on your tag when I come back. In the meantime I had no idea there was a name for the restless legs thingy when you're tired, I have it; I don't know what to do with my legs, feels like I could run a marathon.

You're a very interesting person, not to say weird on some of your routines (X-files before bed?!) lol.

Hmm.. I'll have to give this some thought. I cannot watch anything scary before bed lately. The pregnancy is giving me strange dreams.

Then I wouldn't recommend "Gumby". It's scarier than the X-Files. Walking in and out of books, those creepy blockheads, and changing shape at will...*shudder*.

I am smiling - what a delightful person you must be....

Openly laughed here at the computer at 5:27 a.m. - caused by number 2.

re Gumby and X-files - they never really end....

Oooohhhh, a fellow anti-Winstonite?

I don't know what mean exactly by "around here", but it seems to me that anywhere in the World (except maybe Germany) it's illegal to refer to the man as anything less than a saint.

Edmonton. The center of the city is Churchill Square, with a horrid statue of him...then there's Churchill Station, various buildings, and of course an appreciation society that puts up displays all around the city. Ugh.

I just experienced the QUEEN of all things weird today. Are you ready? Your brother LOVES spinach dip!

I don't know how to break this to you....but....Joey Pop didn't just leave. After the "Hardees Incident", I put out a contract on her. She's now on the bottom of the lake, wearing cement overshoes.

Your brother wants to hear you say "regularly" and "particularly" the next time you call, so he can ridicule you. Isn't he sweet? ;)

You killed Joey Pop! You bastards! What, did you hire another fat lady to sit on her?!

;D

Um...Z doesn't like spinich, but he likes spinich dip? Bizarre. That would be like me enjoying fruitcake...those little candied fruit globs gross me out big-time.
