Happy Halloween!

(This isn't a pumpkin, it's a sleeping jack-o-lantern. Shhh, don't wake him up!)

Hmpph. I was all set to watch some cheesy and/or scary movies on cable, but so far the scariest thing I've found is a show called When Surgical Instruments Get Left Behind.

I think I'll go to Gone Baby Gone. I tried reading the book, not knowing it was part of a series, and like all detective series it tries to rope you into reading the other books by slyly alluding to past adventures. Flat-out annoying. The story is good and the characters interesting, but it's just too formulaic. Such a let-down after Mystic River!

I'm really hoping I don't get any trick-or-treaters this year, 'cause all I've got on hand are some durian-fruit candies....

I have to say we werent home in the time frame they let the kids trick or treat here. They go from 4-7 here. So at 4 I brought the girls in and we left at 5:30 with Jeff to do some errands.

That was a good plan, Tweets. Seems like most people either stayed away from home during trick-or-treat hours, or hunkered down with all the lights off. I was right here, but not a trick-or-treater did I see...guess downtown isn't exactly a hotspot for that.

Remember the commercial about people giving trick-or-treaters things like frozen peas?

Still laughing about that one.....
