World's Shortest Movie Review: "Gone Baby Gone"

Summary: Set in the same grimy, small-town mileu of Boston's poorest neighborhoods as Mystic River and Good Will Hunting, the story follows young P.I. couple Patrick and Angie (Casey Affleck and Michelle Moynihan) as they help police investigate the abduction of a 4-year-old girl from her crack-whore mom. Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris play gruff-but-likeable cops.
Upsides: Some very clever plot twists will probably surprise you, and the movie leaves you pondering who's really good or bad. Freeman and Harris give good performances, needless to say. And unlike the book, the movie doesn't go off-track to describe the investigators' previous cases.
Downsides: Affleck and Moynihan have all the charisma of carrots, and were way too young for their roles.
The funniest character in the book was Cheese, a hulking Scandinavian gangster who thinks he's black. But in the movie Cheese actually is black, and he's deadly serious. I guess this fits with the darker tone of the movie, but I really wanted to see a Scandinavian gangster.

I've been seeing the ads and not even they have been that enticing. Perhaps a renter way down the road.

It's definitely a rental movie, not a run-out-and-see-it-now movie. I only wanted to see it 'cause I couldn't finish the book and wanted to know how it ended.
