Vacation Highlights: Minnesota
We arrived at my parents' place around 2:00 AM, went straight to the pop-up camper in their front yard, and collapsed from exhaustion. Their dog Hairry didn't make the slightest fuss, but for the rest of the time we were there he barked every time he noticed the strange car in the driveway. Weird.
We had a great visit: Good food, good conversation, lots of hugs. My grandparents told some excellent stories and kept their anti-"Damnocrat" raving to a bare minimum, thankfully. We attempted to take decent family photos, but as you can see Hairry wasn't very cooperative. He only wants to play when you get down on the floor with him. Or maybe he was hungover. Romero and his gnome friend were finally home, Romero reunited with his brother Virgil. I'm sure he's not thrilled that he and Virgil will have to stay outside, while the gnome gets a cozy spot on an indoor shelf. Z-Kid and I laughed our butts off over many things, like Penn & Teller's Bullsh** and the crazy fanfiction he found online. I'll show you what I mean:
A rendition of a horrible piece of Half-Life (game) fanfiction, "Full-Life Consequences"
A classic clip from Bullsh**, concerning alien probes...
On our way out of town we saw the pelicans pictured above, along with two black bears.
I love Penn & Teller's Bull****. It's hilarious, even when I disagree with what they're saying. I usually agree though. They're very libertarian.
I'm no fan of the damnocrats, but come on, our current President is horrible. Absolutely horrible. Are they clueless that the person who is screwing up the economy right now is George W Bush because he has us in this stupid war, we have a horrible trade imbalance with China, he spent Clinton's surplus and left us with a gigantic debt? How can anyone not see that? This is Bush's fault more than the damnocrats.
Also, the stock market is tanking. The Dow's at 11.4k. The only stocks that are going up are the oil stocks. Everything else is going down.
When Bush came into power, the Euro was at around 85c. Now it's kicking our a****. Even the Canadian dollar is neck and neck with us.
Whoops. I forget I'm writing on a Canadian blog. Yikes!
Anyways, the picture that's on your mother's blog is really cute (of you and Z-kid). Glad you had a good visit. I'll watch that Penn and Teller vid now.
I agree with you on Dubya; that will be his legacy and his shame, if there's any justice in the world. But try convincing my grandparents of that...they're straight-ticket Republicans these days. Sigh.
The worst thing about the American dollar and the Canadian dollar being more or less equal these days is that our prices don't reflect the change! We were OK paying more for U.S. products before; now it's aggravating.
Those photo's are awsome even with Hairy looking Drunk... I remember seeing him the last time we went home and he loved Kora because she was sitting in the recliner throwing the ball for him. Now he would have a ball with both girls because they are old enough. He was interested in Bri's feet when we first walked in because I was carrying her. I have to admit I dont think he ever saw something that small until Bri but your mother is more than welcome to correct me if I am wrong. LOL..
ZS, my mother keeps saying that Bush will be remembered as our "greatest president EVER"! I've tried arguing this point, but I give up. I sometimes wonder what planet my parents are living on.
Hairry definitely loves to play...the first thing he did when we came in was grab his rope toy and try to rip my arm off playing tug-o-war with him. ;D
Bush the best prez ever?! Please please please please no........
