We're doing something a little different (for us) this evening: Going to a football game. Richard used to go with his pal Ken years ago, but hasn't been to a game for 6-7 years, and I've never been to a pro game. Winnipeg's playing, and from what I hear they'll mop the floor with us.
Next week I'm taking Richard to A Scanner Darkly and going by my lonesome to Lady in the Water, since apparently no one in the hemisphere wants to see it except for me. Say what you will about Signs and The Village: I'm sticking by M. Night Shyamalan. I think he's the closest thing we've got to a modern-day Hitchcock, and it's not as if Hitchcock didn't have some plot holes so big you could fall in and sprain your ankle. Someday, everybody's gonna realize Shyamalan was a great director with a unique vision and wonder why we were so hard on the guy (maybe not for another century, but it will happen, mark my words!).
I went to an interesting public lecture thingy last week that I haven't posted about yet. I will soon. For now I'll just say it involved meditation, Jesus Christ living in Italy, and crop circles. (10 points to anyone who can guess what the lecture was about!)
I'll post a photo of our god-awful ugly loveseat before we get rid of it. It somewhat resembles the 2005 winner of the World Wide Ugly Couch Contest.

At least your loveseat is more comfy than the godawful chair that I couldn't get out of.
I've been in that couch! Really! In some bad green room of the world, or basement of the world. I keep forgetting that Shayamalam is only 35 which means The Sixth Sense was sone in his twenties. I'm with you- he may be a one trick pony but no one else does what he does so I'll go see his stuff, if only to see something unusual for a change.
Jesus baking the ultimate loaf of bread purely through the use of his mind?
Very close, but no. I'll give that 5 points.
Lady in the Water? Ok your taking me out on a date to Scanner Darkly but you never asked me out to Lady in the Water, I'm hurt :{
You're welcome to come, ya big whiner. :)
Is this A Date? are you asking me out on a date?
Doug, it's better than you'd get here. We just rent movies. ;)
SME: I'd love to know what you thought of The Lady in the Water. I was a huge fan of The Village, but not so much of Sixth Sense.
AH! Finally somebody else besides me and Demi who liked The Village! :)
I'll post a review of Lady in the Water soon, but for now I'll just say I loved it. It had great things to say and a unique way to say them: Refreshing! (It's not a spooky film like 6th Sense, despite the ads)
